SAN BERNARDINO>> The San Bernardino County Museum has announced that they will join the Bank of America Museums on Us program, the first museum in San Bernardino County to be invited to participate and only the second museum in the Inland Empire since the program launched in 2000. Museums on Us is a benefit to Bank of America cardholders across the United States providing free admission to cardholders the first weekend of every month. The museum will receive a $4,000 stipend from Bank of America to underwrite the program costs. Bank of America’s stated goal for the program is that “the arts have a unique ability to connect people and communities, and help local economies thrive. Through Museums on Us, Bank of America is able to provide its customers with free access to artistic and cultural experiences across the United States at some of the nation’s most celebrated cultural institutions ranging from art, children’s and history museums to aquariums and science centers.” Cardholders present their Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card along with a photo ID to gain a free general admission to any participating institution, the first full weekend, Saturday and Sunday, of each month. The benefit is for the cardholders only and guests are not eligible for free general admission. The program is currently available at 150 museums nationwide, including the Riverside Art Museum, the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles and the Palm Springs Art Museum. The free admission offer began at the San Bernardino County Museum the weekend of Jan. 7 and 8 and will continue on the first full weekend of each month during the year. “We are very proud to be invited into the Museums on Us program and delighted that Bank of America recognizes the important role the San Bernardino County Museum plays in the cultural and scientific enrichment of our Inland Empire families,” said Museum Director Melissa Russo. “We anticipate that the program will bring new audiences to the museum.”
