The Orange Belt Mineralogical Society is having a rock, gem, jewelry, and craft tailgate show Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on Dec. 12, 13, and 14, across the street from Rialto City Hall at 105 S. Palm Street in Rialto. The event begins at 9 a.m. and runs until dusk on Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free to the public. Hand-made jewelry, rough rock, slabs, faceting rough, fossils, minerals, and crafts will be available for purchase.
The Orange Belt Mineralogical Society (OBMS) is a non-profit group promoting an appreciation of geology through rock hunting, developing lapidary skills, and learning jewelry-making techniques that use rocks.
The group is based out of San Bernardino and has a workshop open Mondays and Tuesdays 4 – 8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
