SBVC Men’s Soccer midfielder Alfonso Cano, a Fontana HS graduate, has signed a letter of intent with Cal State San Bernardino. Cano was named first team All-Foothill Conference this past fall and scoring five goals with two assists, including two game winning goals. Cano was also named Honorable Mention All-Foothill Conference in 2012. Under the tutelage of eighth-year coach Josh Brown, SBVC Men's Soccer ended the 2013 season going further than any team had gone in program history, hosting a Southern California Finals match. The team ended the regular season having won 13 games, on their way to their first back-to-back-to-back ever Playoff berth. Coach Brown had six players named to the All-Conference team, finishing the season with an overall record of 13-4-6 and a 4-2-2 Foothill Conference record. Entering the playoffs, number two seeded SBVC was given a first round bye and in the second round, hosted the number ten seeded Oxnard Condors (16-6-1), a team that was riding a 12 game winning streak and had shutout their last seven opponents, but all of that did not matter as SBVC blanked Oxnard, 2-0. The California State University San Bernardino Coyotes play at Premier Field, and the team is coached by first year coach, Steve Ralas. The Coyotes finished the 2013 season 5-12-3 overall and 3-12-1 in Conference play, placing them in sixth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association-South Division.
