At just 16 years old, Grand Terrace High School Junior Mia Mezzanatto is already making an impressive impact both academically and athletically. With an outstanding 4.5 GPA, Mia successfully balances the demands of school, sports, and personal interests while continuing to excel in every area of her life.

Mia’s love for sports began at an early age. She has played soccer since she was just 3 years old and also participated in volleyball and basketball while growing up. Today, Mia shines on the GTHS Varsity Softball team, where she primarily plays shortstop and center field, while also contributing in both the middle infield and outfield.

Her recent performances on the field have showcased her dedication and talent. In a game against La Salle High School, Mia went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, displaying confidence and consistency in every at-bat. She credits her weekly hitting lessons and extra time spent in the batting cages for helping her feel prepared and focused during games.

The game prior against Carter High School was equally impressive, as Mia recorded two more doubles and made a standout diving play at shortstop. Through weekly fielding clinics and extra weekend reps, she has continued to strengthen her defensive skills and become an even greater asset to her team.

Mia’s commitment to improving her game is evident in the work she puts in year-round. During the season, she attends Grand Terrace softball clinics, while in the offseason she trains at Cal State Fullerton fielding clinics with Coach Araujo to sharpen her defensive abilities. For hitting instruction, Mia trains at Flores House of Power with Coach Jimmy Flores, while also participating in batting practice and workouts with Inland Peak. Her relentless work ethic is helping shape her into one of Grand Terrace High School’s top athletes.

Her accomplishments already speak volumes. Last season, Mia earned First Team All-League honors as a center fielder and helped lead her softball team to a League Championship in 2025. In soccer, her team advanced to the CIF Elite 8 during the 2025-2026 season. Academically, Mia is a member of the Honor Guard, recognizing her as one of the top 20 students in her class. Another achievement she takes pride in is earning a spot on the Varsity Softball team as a Freshman.

Outside of athletics, Mia enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She loves going to the beach, camping, visiting the lake, and playing whiffle ball in her free time.

When asked who has had the greatest influence on her life, Mia immediately pointed to her parents and said, “My parents have been the biggest influence in my life because they taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and putting family first,” Mia also shared. “Through their support, sacrifices, and encouragement, they shaped the person I am today. They showed me how to stay strong during difficult times, treat others with respect, and always give my best effort no matter the situation. Their guidance has influenced the way I approach challenges, relationships, and my goals for the future.”

Looking ahead, Mia hopes to attend college outside of her hometown, with San Diego State University being one of her top choices. She plans to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees while continuing to grow academically and personally as she prepares for a successful future.

One of Mia’s favorite quotes comes from J. Cole, “It’s beauty in the struggle, ugliness in the success.”

Mia explained, “J. Cole’s quote reminds us to appreciate the journey, not just the outcome, because the hard times often shape who we become.”

Mia would also like to thank her friends and family for always supporting and encouraging her. Their advice, love, and belief in her have helped motivate her to continue pushing toward her goals every day.

Over the past few years, we have watched Mia grow into an exceptional student-athlete and leader. Her determination, discipline, and strong support system continue to guide her toward success both on and off the field. As she prepares for her Senior year, there is no doubt that Mia will continue to shine and help lead the Lady Titans in pursuit of another League Championship. The future is incredibly bright for this talented Lady Titan, and we are there to continue to cheer for her.
