Time for Change Foundation will hold its annual Taking Time to Give Thanks Concert to benefit Homeless Women and Children. Featured artists include Makeda Francisco, lead vocalist of Rose Royce and the Time for Change Foundation National Spokesperson. The mission of Time for Change Foundation (TFCF) is to empower disenfranchised low-income individuals and families by building leadership through evidence-based programs and housing to create self-sufficiency and thriving communities. Since 2002 TFCF has been dedicated to helping homeless women and children achieve self-sufficiency by using an array of evidenced-based practices coupled with a strength-based approach to address their needs. Our programs and supportive services help to assist families and individuals with the skills necessary to recover from the effects of homelessness, addiction, incarceration, mental and physical abuse. The event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23 starting at 3 p.m. at the Community Hospital of San Bernardino in the Henderson Auditorium (1805 Medical Center Drive, San Bernardino, CA 92411). There is a suggested donation of $5 OR a gift for women and children (coats, socks, bus passes, gift cards). Winter months tend to have a chilling effect on mothers who are unable to provide warm coats and socks for their children. Oftentimes, it's these items that most of us take for granted that can be the spark of hope for children as they walk to school with the precious gift of being warm. Additionally, gift cards to places such as Target and Walmart enable homeless women to purchase items necessary to reclaiming their role as a nurturing and caring parent. All financial contributions assist Time for Change Foundation in providing our shelter services, transportation, childcare and educational supplies, among other things. Homeless children are given special attention, as we provide interventions that continue to set them up for positive educational outcomes. Our early childhood development center located within the shelter provides easy access to computers, books, interactive learning modules, and hands on "Mommy and Me" activities. We acknowledge it's our role to help break the inter-generational cycles of homelessness and neglect in the lives of these precious children. “Children are the most vulnerable in any homeless situation,” according to Kim Carter, Executive Director of Time for Change Foundation. “We have the ability to redirect their unfortunate circumstances and turn it into a stepping stone that propels these children into a bright future full of healthy expectations and the education attainment necessary for a bright future. It's because of the generous donations of others that we have had remarkable outcomes with our families. Our mothers are reaching self-sufficiency and their children are catapulted to live their greatest dreams. “ For more information visit www.Timeforchangefoundation.org or call 909-886-2994.
