SAN BERNARDINO >> On Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at approximately 8:45 a.m., the victims observed a male suspect inside their residence. The suspect ran from the residence and the victims contacted Sheriff’s Dispatch. The victims provided the suspect’s description and where they last observed the suspect running from their residence. Deputy Hedy was minutes from the victim’s residence and quickly observed the suspect running down the street. Hedy pursued the suspect on foot as he fled through the neighborhood and into the rear yard of a residence. After a brief struggle, Deputy C. Ortiz assisted Hedy with getting the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as 22 year old Francisco Cuevas. Cuevas was booked into Central Detention Center.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Cuevas is currently on PRCS release for Felony Evading charges out of San Bernardino County, as a result of California Assembly Bill 109.
As part of Governor Jerry Brown's Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court Decision requiring the state to lower its prison population; offenders with non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county Probation.
