Jake Garcia is this week’s winner of the City News Group, Inc. $1,000 sweepstakes opportunity drawing! As this week’s winner of the weekly prize giveaway, Garcia has won a dinner for two from Vicky’s Restaurant. An easy way to give back to your community is to shop local and support our small businesses. We here at your local City News have developed a sweepstakes program that gets you, the community, back to your favorite local businesses. Garcia decided to enter after speaking with his sister-in-law, “We were visiting my mother-in-law at her house when she mentioned that she entered this contest online,” Garcia said. “I thought that it would be fun to play myself. I never thought that I would win.” Garcia currently works in security and works late hours and different shifts. Just like many, Garcia has faced the complications that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought and has had to adjust his role within his family. “Covid-19 has truly impacted my family life as most of my family is elderly and have health issues” Garcia said. “Therefore I cannot visit them as often as I would like. I have also taken on the duty of running errands for them when I can.”   Despite the challenges Garcia and his family now face, Garcia was excited to learn that he was chosen as this week’s winner. “It feels great to win!! Thank you so much and I love that I won before my sister in law won,” Garcia joked.
