On Sunday, May 11, 2014, at about 11:17 p.m., a San Bernardino Police Officer on patrol found the victim down in the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sierra Way. At first, the officer thought the victim was injured as a result of a traffic accident but discovered that the victim had actually been shot in the upper torso. The victim was taken via ambulance to St. Bernardine Medical Center for treatment where he died after around 30 minutes.
Twenty two minutes later, at approximately 11:39, San Bernardino Police officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 blk. N. Wall Avenue. They found the victim in the back yard of his residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim was taken via ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment but died of his injuries about one hour later.
Residents in the area of both shootings reported hearing gunshots at the time of the shooting. There is no suspect information at this time for both homicides. Nor has the motive for the shooting been established.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to contact Detective Steve Turner at (909) 384-5647 or Sergeant Gary Robertson at (909) 841-5361.
