Moreno Valley residents of all ages can turn their time and talents into meaningful community impact, with volunteer opportunities that bring neighbors together while helping keep the city clean, connected and thriving. Read more below to see how volunteering gives residents a chance to take an active role in the community they call home.

Moreno Valley residents looking for a way to become more involved in their community will have an opportunity to learn where their talents and time are needed during the City's upcoming Volunteer Recruitment Night on Wednesday, October 21. The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. and is designed to connect residents with volunteer opportunities available throughout Moreno Valley. The City's volunteer program offers opportunities across nine City departments, giving adults with different interests and experience levels a chance to participate in local government and community programs. Volunteer assignments can range from helping with Animal Services and Library programs to supporting other City services and community activities. For residents, volunteering can provide an inside look at how City programs operate while allowing them to meet neighbors and contribute to projects that directly benefit Moreno Valley. The program also provides opportunities for younger residents. High school students between the ages of 14 and 17 who need community service hours may be able to volunteer through programs at the Moreno Valley Library, Community Garden or Senior Center with permission from a parent or guardian. Opportunities can fill quickly, so students are encouraged not to wait until graduation approaches before completing required service hours. The City also offers single-day volunteer opportunities through Beautify MoVal, allowing residents—including young people—to participate in organized community cleanup and beautification projects. For adults, volunteering can be an equally valuable experience. Retirees may find an opportunity to put years of professional experience to work, while younger adults can gain experience, develop new skills and become more familiar with their local government. Perhaps most importantly, volunteering gives residents a chance to take an active role in the community they call home. As Moreno Valley continues to grow, maintaining strong connections between residents and local government will remain an important part of building a healthy community. Programs that invite residents to participate rather than simply observe can help strengthen those connections. Residents interested in attending Volunteer Recruitment Night or learning about available positions can visit the City of Moreno Valley's volunteer program for additional information.
