San Bernardino Police are conducting an officer involved shooting investigation following an incident late Saturday evening. Officers responded to a gasoline station in the 2700 Block of N. Del Rosa Avenue just after 8:26 p.m. in reference to a man armed with a gun. When officers arrived, they located a subject matching the description provided by the concerned citizens. The officers quickly recognized the subject to be armed with a black handgun. In attempts to deescalate the situation, officers gave multiple commands to the suspect to drop the gun, however, he did not comply. The suspect then raised the handgun and pointed it at one of the officers. Both officers fired at the suspect. The suspect was immediately transported to an area hospital where he later died. A black replica handgun was recovered at the scene. Investigations Captain Adam Affrunti said, “I have no idea why the suspect didn’t just drop the gun when ordered to do so.” No additional information is available for release at this time. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Silva (909) 384-5762 / silva_an@sbcity.org or Sergeant Tello at (909) 384-5613 / tello_al@sbcity.org. For more local news and information click here.
