Their tennis shoes scuttled across the polished floors of the Coussoulis arena like the boots of soldiers scuttle battlegrounds in the midst of combat. This Band of Brothers, the Cal State San Bernardino (CSUSB) Men’s Basketball team didn't play like boys on the night of February 21st, 2014. The brave Coyotes fought like men. The game was held at CSUSB at 7:30 p.m. and the men were up against the Sonoma State Seahawks. This military appreciation basketball event was organized by the members of the student government and the Student Veterans Center to show appreciation to soldiers and veterans of war. Before the game began, there was a tailgating event, raffles, music and free food. Everyone from family and friends of the players, members of JROTC, Army recruiters, members of the reserves and veterans were present to enjoy the festivities. The opening ceremony was the most moving part of the entire event. The American Flag was carried onto the court by dozens of proud cadets. The National Anthem was sung, and respect was given to all those who have fought, and continue to fight for this country. And to seal the night off, after two quarters, numerous clever plays and defensive strategies, the Coyotes claimed their victory! They won the game against the Sonoma State Seahawks 82 to 48.
