SBVC Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Men’s Basketball forward Marcus Bradley (Corona del Mar HS, Newport Beach), a sophomore, will be attending Idaho State University (ISU), an NCAA Division One school. Bradley was named first team all-Foothill Conference. He had 291 total points, shot 75 percent from the free throw line, and grabbed 106 total boards. Bradley was a solid starter, contributing an average of 11.2 points per game. Bradley will join the Bengals of ISU with fellow SBVC teammate, freshman guard Evan Hall (Thousand Oaks H.S.). Idaho State University is located in the community of Pocatello, Idaho. The ISU Bengals are coached by Bill Evans. In the 2012–2013 season, the Bengals finished tied for 10th place in their Conference, going 6–24 overall and 5–15 in Conference play. ISU is in the Big Sky Conference of NCAA Division I. San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Men’s Basketball guard Evan Hall (Thousand Oaks H.S.), a freshman, will be attending Idaho State University (ISU), an NCAA Division One school. Hall had 251 total points, shot 79 percent from the free throw line and contributed 9 points per game. Hall will join the Bengals of ISU with fellow SBVC teammate, sophomore forward Marcus Bradley (Corona del Mar H.S. in Newport Beach). This year, the SBVC Wolverines finished the year with a 22–9 overall record and an 11–3 conference record. They were rewarded with a 10th seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. Under the tutelage of fifth-year coach Quincy Brewer, SBVC Men’s Basketball ended the regular season winning 12 of 15 games, on their way to another playoff berth. The run through the playoffs included an opening round upset victory over #7 seed Riverside City, on their way to a second straight SoCal Finals appearance. San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Men’s Basketball forward Paulin Mpawe (Redlands East Valley), a freshman, will be attending the University of Idaho (UI), an NCAA Division One school. Mpawe had 246 total points, shot 50 percent from the field and grabbed 144 total boards over the course of the 2012–2013 season. According to the University of Idaho website govandals.com, Mpawe, who originally signed with Pepperdine coming out of high school before enrolling at San Bernardino Valley JC, will have three years of eligibility with the Vandals. According to govandals.com, Idaho men’s basketball coach Don Verlin said, “Getting a big man with three years remaining with Paulin’s upside is a tremendous get for our program. He has all the skills to be successful but needs to add strength and weight to be an elite player for us. He is very motivated and after meeting [with Idaho strength and conditioning coach] Jake Scharnhorst on his visit, it became very clear to him that Idaho was a great fit. Again, like the others we signed today, he is a tremendous young man and is going to be a great addition to the Vandal family.” University of Idaho is located in the community of Moscow, Idaho, which is about a mile east of the Washington/Idaho border. The UI Vandals play at Cowan Spectrum at the Kibbie Dome and are coached by five-year veteran Don Verlin. In the Cowan Spectrum at the Kibbie Dome 2012–2013 season, the Vandals finished in sixth place in their Conference, going 12–18 overall and 7–11 in Conference play, losing to New Mexico State in the opening round of the WAC Tournament. UI is in the Western Athletic Conference of NCAA Division I. San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Women’s Soccer sophomore forward Milan Galloway (Wilmer Amina Carter H.S. in Rialto) has signed a letter of intent with East Central University. Galloway was named first team All-Foothill Conference this past fall and tied for the leading goal scorer in the Conference with 13 goals, including five multi-goal games. Galloway was also named to the 2011 honorable mention All-Foothill Conference. The team finished the year with a 14–3–5 overall record and a 9–0–3 conference record. They were rewarded with a fourth seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. Under the tutelage of ninth-year coach Kristin Hauge, SBVC Women’s Soccer won their fourth Foothill Conference Championship and made a sixth straight playoff appearance. Continuing to cement its reputation as a dominant program in the region, the young squad is filled with nine sophomores and 17 freshmen. As a reward for their fourth Conference Championship, Hauge received Conference Coach of the Year honors. East Central University is located in the community of Ada, Oklahoma which is about 85 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The ECU Tigers play at the ECU Soccer Field and are coached by four-year veteran Riley Bailey. In the 2012–2013 season the Tigers finished third in their Conference, going 4–11–4 overall and 4–4–2 in Conference play, losing to Ouachita Baptist University in the opening round of the Great American Conference Women’s Soccer Championship. ECU is in the Great American Conference of NAIA.
