SAN BERNARDINO >> Inland Center, Macerich’s market-leading retail property in the fast-growing Inland Empire, recently announced it will welcome a brand new JCPenney department store in the fall of 2016. JCPenney will join the property’s powerful retail roster, including anchors Macy’s, Forever 21 and Sears, along with more than 100 specialty stores and restaurants in the 933,000 square-foot, single-level, enclosed regional mall. The store’s new location at the mall will be a fully renovated, high-profile anchor space, formerly home to Gottschalks department store. “Macerich’s high-performing Inland Center continues to be an exceptionally strong platform for popular retail brands, and we are so pleased to welcome JCPenney to our vibrant store lineup,” said Arun Parmar, Sr. Property Manager, Inland Center. “Our mall dominates the greater San Bernardino region, which is the 13th most populous metropolitan area in the entire country, providing a highly strategic location for JCPenney.” The 138,000 square-foot, 2-level JCPenney at Inland Center will bring its well-known private brands offering compelling style, quality and value, as well as popular national brands and exclusive merchandise and attractions, including Sephora and Disney. The region’s strengthening economic outlook, along with significant population density, help make San Bernardino an appealing location for JCPenney. “As national retailers are increasingly selective about where and how they choose to expand, we are tremendously pleased that JCPenney, a top department store and household name, will be opening at Inland Center,” said Bill Manis, Deputy City Manager, City of San Bernardino. “Successful and growing shopping destinations like Inland Center are part of the reason our community is such an attractive place to live and work in Southern California.” “This is a huge success for Inland Center Mall and reaffirms the strength of San Bernardino in our region,” said Councilman John Valdivia, who represents the local district. “As a strong proponent of economic development, I will continue to do my part to see that the area grows and provides visitors a positive shopping experience in San Bernardino.”
