Open tryouts are now scheduled for Ontario Fury's 2015-16 season. They are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 2 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The tryouts are open to players ages 18 and older. Fury President and Coach Bernie Lilavois will be on hand to evaluate talent for possible inclusion on the Fury’s main roster or the team’s reserve squad. There will also be representatives from other Major Arena Soccer League teams at the tryout sessions, including the San Diego Sockers and a new team to be based in Baja California. Fury player Joey Pacheco, who was the Fury’s Iron Man last season, was part of the Fury’s first-ever open tryout. The Moreno Valley native has played the past two seasons with the Fury, scoring seven goals and adding three assists in 28 games with the Fury. Several other tryout veterans have seen action with both the Fury and its reserve team over the past two years. “The Inland Empire and Southern California is full of talented soccer players who will be well suited for the indoor game,” Lilavois said. “We hope to find the next great indoor player who can help the Fury this season and beyond.” Registration for the camp is $50 when paid in advance, and $60 (cash only) the day of the tryout. Participants will go through a series of drills and mini-games on the same field that the Fury plays on at Citizens Business Bank Arena. This is the first time the Fury will hold its open tryouts at the arena. After the tryouts are completed, the Fury will host two youth soccer clinics at the arena. Children ages 4 to 16 will be invited down on the floor of Citizens Business Bank Arena for a two-hour clinic led by Fury players and staff. There will be two two-hour sessions available for youth players, and space is limited. Cost is $20 for the two-hour session and includes a Fury drawstring backpack. Because space is limited, registration will only be available in advance online at OntarioFury.com. The Ontario Fury will begin its 2015-16 Major Arena Soccer League season this November with a 20-game schedule that will run through the end of February. A final schedule, including a planned preseason game, will be announced in the coming weeks. The Ontario Fury is driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet. For information about tryouts, the youth camp or the Fury, check OntarioFury.com or call the Fury’s offices at 909-457-0252.
