San Bernardino>>  On Friday, May 5,  The Santos Manuel Student Union Program Board will host Coyote Fest, a campus wide annual celebration for California State University, San Bernardino students.

“The SMSU Program Board is very excited to once again have an expanded venue and the opportunity to work with many campus partners,” said Monica McMahon, program coordinator for the Office of Student Engagement.

Though in its ninth year, this will be the second year Coyote Fest will take place across the CSUSB campus.

Coyote Fest will run from 8 p.m. to midnight and is free to the public; complimentary parking will be available in lots C and D.

Sponsored by SMSU, Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Associated Students Inc., Office of Student Engagement, Office of Community Engagement, CSUSB Athletics and the John M. Pfau Library, the event is for CSUSB students and their friends to have a night of safe fun before finals week.

Being held in three different campus locations, the main stage will take place on the John M. Pfau Library Lawn. The main stage artist line up will be: DJ Wall-E, DJ SkyHigh, DJ JP, Coastal Shadows, and Traitor Joe.

“For the first time ever, Coyote Fest is incorporating a cultural aspect to be hosted in the Lower Commons,” McMahon said.

The SMSU Cross Cultural Center will host the second stage there with live cultural performances by La Contraseńa and Ballet Folklorico dancers. The third location — the new SMSU plaza located in between the SMSU and University Hall — will include casino games, and arts and crafts.

“This expansion will allow our students to enjoy more activities and shorter lines,” McMahon said.

Carnival rides and games also will be offered for students to enjoy. Vendors Kettle Tyme, Sweet Stop, and Jojo’s Grill-a-Dog will sell a variety of food, including funnel cakes and other refreshments.

CSUSB students must present their Coyote ID card; non-CSUSB students are encouraged to bring a valid California ID.
