SBVC Women’s Soccer: Magallon Signs Letter of Intent

San Bernardino Valley College Women’s Soccer sophomore defender Marlene Magallon (Hesperia High School) has signed a letter of intent to play for Texas A&M University-Texarkana next season. Magallon played in 14 games, grabbing a goal at home versus Cerro Coso and was a mainstay for a defense that had fifteen shutouts on the season. Magallon will join former SBVC teammates Vanessa Sanchez, Shey Torres, Jenna Arreola and Natalia Sevilla at TAMUT. Under the tutelage of 11-year coach Kristin Hauge, the team finished the season ranked 11 in the nation by the NSCAA, and were ranked fourth in Southern California and sixth in the state, ending the year with a 15-2-6 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference record. They were rewarded with a No. 8 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a reward for their sixth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with four first team All-Conference honors and four second team All-Conference honors. Texas A&M University-Texarkana is located in Texarkana, Texas. The TAMUT Eagles play at TAMUT Soccer Field, and the team is coached by second-year coach, Steve Golas. In the 2014 season, the Eagles had an overall record of 10-2-3 as an independent. TAMUT is in the NAIA.
