On 11/25/17, at approximately 6:27 p.m., the San Bernardino Police Dispatch received several calls regarding a vehicle which had struck a bicyclist and fled the scene. Police and Fire personnel responded to the scene and found the victim on the side of the roadway. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries several hours later.

Witnesses indicated that a black Dodge Magnum was seen striking the victim and driving at a high rate of speed from the scene. Homicide detectives responded to conduct the investigation. During the investigation, it was learned that the victim and the suspect were both at a nearby residence just before the incident. The suspect was identified by witnesses as Dominic Simmons.

On 11/26/17, an off-duty San Bernardino Police Officer observed a black Dodge Magnum which was parked near a gas station in the City of Rialto. This vehicle had traffic collision damage to the front end and windshield consistent with the collision of the bicyclist. Upon further inspection, he recognized the occupant as the person wanted for the incident. The officer notified the Rialto Police Department and requested their assistance. Officers contacted the suspect Simmons with the vehicle. Simmons was arrested for the incident and his vehicle was seized as evidence.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to please contact Detective Oldendorf at (909) 384-5619 or Sergeant Kokesh at (909) 384-5613.
