SAN BERNARDINO>> San Bernardino Valley College Sports Information Specialist Brian Sylva has stepped down to accept a position with College of the Desert. Sylva has spent the last nine years leading an overhaul of the Sports Information Office including the addition of multiple website rebuilds, leading to the eventual present day athlete website and a couple of the most active social media accounts in Community College sports. “It has been an emotional decision as I have invested the last nine years in each of the now 15 sports that our District offers,” Sylva said, referencing the 12 sports on the San Bernardino Valley College campus and the three sports on the Crafton Hills College campus. “I would like to thank colleagues, support staff, past and present coaching staff and the students of SBVC for making this a rewarding experience. I am grateful.” Sylva continued, “I would specifically like to thank David Rubio for his guidance, friendship and patience with me as I grew into this position at SBVC. I was really green in this profession when I started and he, along with the veteran staff at SBVC, helped me make a positive impact for the College and each sport at SBVC. I would also like to thank Mike Sola for his friendship and heart of gold.” “The neat thing is that since we are in the same Athletic Conference, this is not ‘goodbye,’ but rather ‘see you soon’ and with a great deal more red and gold in my wardrobe,” he said. Red, gold and white are the colors of College of the Desert. "Brian has been an important member of our department for the last nine years," said Director of Athletics David Rubio. "He has had a positive impact on our program and will be greatly missed and on behalf of San Bernardino Valley College Athletics, I want to extend to Brian best wishes and good luck at COD."
