Citizens Offering Police Support

SAN BERNARDINO >> At a time when law enforcement is getting so much negative publicity, I believe this is a perfect time for our organization, Citizens Offering Police Support (C.O.P.S.), to go national. I have seen first-hand what a positive and friendly interaction with those who protect and serve us can accomplish. It is my sole intention to step up and be a positive force For all law enforcement in all cities across the United States. While so much attention is given to those who oppose our law enforcement agencies nationwide, there are many more citizens who appreciate the sacrifices made by those in law enforcement and support them. Unfortunately, they do not have a vehicle by which they can express that support. That is what C.O.P.S. can offer if we can let people know we are here and ready to coordinate a nationwide effort to express our support through words and more importantly, through actions. C.O.P.S. began 17 years ago in Simi Valley with a simple desire to acknowledge the extraordinary care and effort of a local police officer. His humanitarianism needed to be acknowledged and in coordinating an effort of local businesses and individuals by creating a gift basket, C.O.P.S. was born. It was obvious the community appreciated this officer and wanted some way to express that appreciation. They responded with amazing generosity when given the chance to participate in recognizing one of their men in blue. We would love to have an opportunity to share with people what has been accomplished in this area and what can happen nationwide. Now is the time to let those in law enforcement know they are not alone and their work in protecting each of us has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. Our goal is to establish branches of C.O.P.S. across the United States and coordinate events – including an annual National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
