Proms mean fun and excitement and the San Bernardino Fifth Street Senior Center is known for being just that; fun and exciting. The prom was held on May 30, 2014 beginning at 3 p.m. and offered food, dancing, and prizes. The music was provided by All-Time DJ / Karaoke Service. John Peterson and wife, Carmen Suniga Peterson danced to nearly all the many types of music provided, from Cha Cha to Waltz. John credited his dancing stamina to his years as an athlete at Pacific High School in San Bernardino and at Cal State San Diego, where he played baseball. In fact, John was part of the first full graduating class of Pacific High School, in 1956. He and Carmen really enjoy music and John believes that "music brings people together." Lakeisha L. Jackson, Interim Recreation Program Supervisor, kept everything moving smoothly and infused the recreation center with her high-energy. Linda Wilson Gomez, the former supervisor, came back for the prom and shared that she really enjoyed her years as supervisor, and "interacting with all the people." A king and queen were nominated and the titles were won by Melvin Reese and Gean Body. The Fifth Street Senior's Center will have their last dance of the summer season on June 21st of this year.
