A Grant Revenue Agreement with the California Coastal Conservancy to construct Phase III of the Santa Ana River Trail Corridor was approved last week by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. Phase III will include a 3.8-mile segment of the trail starting from Waterman Avenue in the City of San Bernardino to California Street in the City of Redlands. The San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department has submitted an application to the Active Transportation Program (ATP) to help construct Phase IV of the trail. Phase IV will be the final stage of the Santa Ana River Trail. It will stretch from California Street in Redlands to Garnett Street in Mentone and beyond into the San Bernardino National Forest. Patricia Lock-Dawson, Principal Consultant for the Santa Ana River Trail and Parkway Partnership, praised the Board’s action. She stated, “The trail has been a long-time dream for citizens. I thank the Board for their leadership.” Chairman James Ramos was also pleased with the approval. He commented, “We continue to make progress. Our residents have been waiting for the trail’s completion for years and today we are one step closer.”
