In Loving Memory of... Ruth KatesOct. 15, 1916 - Dec. 30, 2014

Ruth Kates, age 98, of Beaumont passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. Cause of death was chronic kidney disease. Born Oct. 15, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois she lived there until the mid 1920s when the family moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin. After graduating from Kenosha High School in 1935, the family moved back to Chicago. She met her husband Nathan via a mutual friend and moved to Los Angeles where she and Nathan got married. At the time of his death they were married just shy of 60 years. Most of her working career was spent at Union Bank, first in the 1950s and again in the 1960s until her retirement in the mid 1970s. Survivors include son Michael, daughter Phyllis, grandson Eric, granddaughter Nicole, great granddaughter Delia and many friends and loved ones. Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley located at 374 W. Orange Show Road, San Bernardino, CA 92408 in memory of Ruth’s beloved dog Ginger and her beloved granddog, Roxie.
