SAN BERNARDINO>> Jose Martinez, assistant general manager of East Valley Water District, resigned from his position to accept the role as general manager of Valley County Water District in Baldwin Park, California. “This is an excellent opportunity for Jose and is in perfect alignment with his career aspirations,” said John Mura General Manager/CEO. “We are thankful for the contributions he made to the district and wish him success in his new position.” As assistant general manager, Martinez led the district’s conservation efforts, managed emergency preparedness activities, administered the capital improvement program and oversaw departmental work plans. “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Highland and San Bernardino as the district’s assistant general manager,” Martinez said. “I am particularly grateful for the professionalism and high level of service I experienced from the district’s staff and management team.” Martinez has more than 20 years of experience in the water industry, having served customers from both the field and office environments. He received a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts and environmental biology from the University of La Verne. He began his career at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and most recently held the position of administrative services manager at the Walnut Valley Water District. He is also a part time water conservation and water resources instructor at Citrus College in Glendora.
