SBVC Men’s Basketball Wraps Season with Accolades and 14th Conference Championship

Under the tutelage of seventh-year coach Quincy Brewer, San Bernardino Valley College Men's Basketball ended the 2014-2015 season claiming their 14th Conference championship, the Foothill Conference Coach of the Year award and the MVP award was handed to sophomore guard Charles Callison. Brewer was awarded for the fourth time as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season, ranked second in the state with a 29-2 overall record and a 10-0 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 18 straight games. They were rewarded with the 3 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. Sophomore guard Charles Callison (Moreno Valley - Canyon Springs) was selected the Foothill Conference Most Valuable Player, starting all 31 regular season games for SBVC while averaging 18 points per game and shooting 50 percent (24-48) from beyond three-point range in Conference play. Sophomore guard Todd Lewis (Pasadena H.S.), sophomore guard Khleem Perkins (San Bernardino H.S.) and sophomore forward Kyle Benton (Long Beach - St. Anthony) were all named first team all-Foothill Conference. Lewis averaged 15.3 points per game and grabbed 176 total rebounds, shooting 76 percent from the free throw line (98-129), along with 61 assists and 34 steals. His season high was 31 points at Victor Valley on Jan. 24. Perkins averaged 12.8 points per game and shot 47.1 percent from the field (49-104) in Conference play. Benton averaged 13.4 points per game and grabbed a team leading total of 221 rebounds, finishing second in Conference play. Freshman guard Perris Hicks (Pasadena H.S.) was named second team all-Foothill Conference scored 255 points and had a free throw percentage of 73 percent (65-89).
