SAN BERNARDINO>> On March, 20, 2017 at approximately 7:45 p.m., SANCATT Task Force investigators conducted an investigation regarding a stolen trailer. Investigators located the trailer and authored a search warrant for the property. During a search, an additional stolen vehicle was located as well as 2,644 pounds (net weight per packaging) of illegal fireworks. A single adult male who was located at the residence and was arrested for the fireworks as well as the possession of the stolen vehicle and trailer. Rialto City Fire Department responded to assist with the safe removal, storage and destruction of the illegal fireworks. The suspect will be facing felony charges that include possession of stolen property, possession of more than 100 pounds fireworks and possession of dangerous fireworks. This is a reflection of the strict enforcement of safe and sane fireworks by the San Bernardino Police Department this year. As a reminder, All fireworks use is prohibited north of the 210 Freeway in San Bernardino. “Safe and Sane” fireworks are allowed south of the 210. This 4th of July holiday period, there will be an operation in place to identify, detain and prosecute anyone who is found using fireworks illegally. There is an extreme risk for fire danger and personal injury in using fireworks, particularly airborne fireworks; therefore, SBPD will not tolerate those that choose to break the law concerning fireworks. This includes selling, purchasing and lighting fireworks any time before, during or after the upcoming holiday.
