SAN BERNARDINO>> A man who has been out of work for two years landed a job at a recent Manufacturers Job Fair hosted by Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Robert Lovingood. Eric Schmidt, co-owner of Exquadrum, an aerospace and defense contractor, said his company hired a Navy veteran with munitions handling skills who attended the Oct. 28 manufacturing job fair. The veteran, who had been out of work for two years, is now is working for Exquadrum with a salary of approximately $50,000. "Well-paying manufacturing jobs are essential to our economy," Lovingood said. "It's gratifying to help connect job-seekers with local companies."The day before the job fair, approximately 600 local students learned about the manufacturing business, possible career opportunities and the training required to secure jobs. The Made in the High Desert event was also created to shine a light on the value and contributions of local manufacturers." Schmidt said Exquadrum, Inc. was pleased to talk to local students about manufacturing technologies and career opportunities. “In addition, Exquadrum participated in the job fair and was able to identify a candidate which saved significant time and money in our regular candidate search process. Overall, Supervisor Lovingood's attention to our students and our businesses is much appreciated and valuable for the future success of the 1st District."
