66ers to Host Protect and Serve Night

The public is invited to the San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino as the Inland Empire 66ers, San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Department, the Sheriff Employee Assistance Team and title sponsor Toyota and Scion of Redlands celebrate Protect and Serve night, honoring the men and women of law enforcement who keep the public safe every day. With the Big Bear manhunt just months behind us, the event hits home for the County of San Bernardino, and attendees can pay tribute to fallen Detective Jeremiah MacKay and recovering Deputy Alex Collins. In honor of their bravery, the 66ers will play in sheriff-inspired jerseys adorned with MacKay’s and Collins’s patches, which will be auctioned off following the game. Law enforcement and families from around the region are encouraged to attend this community event, which will feature classic police vehicles, pre-game and on-the-field activities for kids, a sheriff’s rodeo, a post-game auction, 66ers mascot Bernie, a bagpipe tribute to Detective MacKay led by the Emerald Society, a K-9 Unit demonstration and an interview with General Manager Joe Hudson. The first pitch wills be thrown by Deputy Collins after he is brought to the field via helicopter. Twenty percent of each ticket will go directly to the MacKay and Collins families. Individual ticket prices range from $6.90 to $13.55. The event will take place Saturday, July 20. Gates will open and activities will begin at 6 p.m. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. The San Manuel Stadium is located at 280 S. E Street, San Bernardino. For more information or to RSVP, contact Adam Franey at 909-495-7633 or visit www.66ers.com.
