Assistance League of San Bernardino held the wrap party for the 53rd Annual Signature Headdress Ball at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino. Models, designers, choreographers, coordinators and dancers were all invited to celebrate the hard work they put in to make this year's ball a success. The 2014 Signature Headdress Ball was held recently at the National Orange Show. A matinee and evening performance was held and about 800 people were in attendance for both. This year's theme was City of Nations which showcased how Assistance League serves the people in our community, no matter what race or region they come from. The models represented United States, Mexico, Israel, Australia and regions including the United Kingdom (England), Asia (Japan, China and South Korea), Africa (South Africa, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Algeria), Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq) and Europe (Romania, Russia, Germany). “Incorporating nations and knowing that we serve children of all nations says it all for me. As the 2014 Headdress Ball Chair I felt like I had to do something that would represent what San Bernardino Assistance League does in serving children from any nation and race,” shared Teresa Craig. The Assistance League for its third year invited organizations in the community to be models in the performance. This year's guest models were Tammy Martin-Ryles (San Bernardino) representing Inland Empire Black Chamber of Commerce; Geri Jure (San Bernardino) representing Friends of Assistance League; Maria Saenz (San Bernardino) representing San Bernardino Sinfonia Mexicana; and Mary Ann Quiggle (San Bernardino) representing the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce. Models that represented Assistance League were Lillian Vasquez-Wisegarver (Colton), Nancy Gutierrez (Rancho Cucamonga), Margaret Ortiz (San Bernardino), and Marsha Scott (Redlands). Representing Les Confreres, an auxiliary organization of the Assistance League are Louise Hummel (San Bernardino) and Danielle Hilder (Lake Arrowhead). Each number at the ball was recognized as was everyone in their cast. Models were gifted photographs of themselves in their headdresses and designers received a photograph of themselves along with their model and their headdress. "Thank you for helping us make more money for the children we support in Assistance League," said Assistance League member Elsa Carlton. Next year's 54th Annual Signature Headdress Ball theme is Circus Dreams and will be held April 25, 2015 at the National Orange Show. 2015 Headdress Ball Chairs Margie Arnett and Sherry Lopez will announce next year’s models, choreographers and designers in October at the annual Ball kick-off dinner. Early bird priced tickets for next year’s show are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/assistance-league-headdress-ball-circus-dreams-april-25-2015-tickets-11607047993 or contact Bobbi Simenton (909)862-0732 for pre-sale tickets and tables.
