Through the First 5 San Bernardino Capacity Continuum Project, First 5 San Bernardino seeks to support the further development of strong, adaptive and sustainable organizations in creating positive outcomes for children ages 0-5 and their families. The Capacity Contiuum Project facilitation will be for a contract period of three (3) fiscal years beginning Oct. 23 through June 30, 2017. First 5 San Bernardino’s Capacity Building Initiative previously has been addressed through the Capacity Building Academy. The Academy utilized curriculum-based training that helped agencies assess their organizational capacity in multiple areas including leadership, management, financial and technical skills. At minimum, applicants should have expertise and experience in strategic planning, organizational capacity building, sustainability planning, facilitation of training workshops and providing technical assistance. Successful applicant(s) should have strong knowledge of systems and programs serving children 0-5 and their families. Additionally, applicants should possess the administrative and fiscal capability to provide and manage the proposed services and to ensure an adequate audit trail, while meeting other presentation and participation requirements listed in the request for qualifications. Qualified groups or individuals interested in working with the Commission to assist in the facilitation and implementation of the First 5 San Bernardino Capacity Contiuum Project should visit First 5’s website for more information at www.first5sanbernardino.org or call 909-386-7706.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
