New Administrator to Join CSUSB’s Development Team

Kimberly Alexander has been named the director of development for Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Business and Public Administration. She joined the university advancement division team on Feb. 3. An accomplished fundraising professional who has spent the past 13 years at the University of Southern California, Alexander has served in several prominent positions, most recently as the senior executive director of development for USC's Civic Engagement. "We are so pleased that Kimberly is joining our development team," said Beth Brenner, CSUSB’s associate vice president of development. “With more than a decade of high-level fundraising experience working on multi-billion dollar campaigns, I am confident that Kimberly will contribute significantly toward achieving the goals of the College of Business and Public Administration.” Lawrence Rose, dean of CSUSB’s College of Business and Public Administration, said he looked forward to working with Alexander. “After meeting with Kimberly, I knew we had someone with the experience and personality key to connect with our students, faculty and community stakeholders.” As the chief development strategist for USC’s Civic Engagement, Alexander created all aspects of the program, securing the department’s single largest gift to date for Civic Engagement at USC. Other positions Alexander has held at USC include senior associate director of foundation relations for USC's Keck School of Medicine, where she played an integral role in a $2.2 billion campaign; as well as the executive director of development, corporate and foundation relations for its Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Previously, Alexander worked in the public relations field, serving in executive level positions for national public relations firms, as well as for a technology company. The Rancho Cucamonga resident earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's in public administration, with an emphasis on nonprofit management at California State University, Northridge. Alexander has a deep commitment to the community and works actively with non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area and the Inland Empire. She also serves on the board of the Bootstrap Scholarship Foundation and the Association for Fundraising Professionals Youth in Philanthropy committee.
