Cease and Desist

Recently, members of the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at the Top Shelf Wellness Center Marijuana Dispensary located in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino. The dispensary was being operated in violation of the San Bernardino County ordinance prohibiting marijuana dispensaries and continued to operate in defiance of cease and desist notifications. Today’s search warrant resulted after detectives learned dispensary employees Rodrick Walker and Kenneth Hunt were selling marijuana to customers without doctor approved medical marijuana recommendations. Evidence obtained by investigators revealed Walker and Hunt made no effort to confirm if customers were medical marijuana patients. Walker and Hunt, who were both under the influence of marijuana, were the only employees at the business when detectives served the search warrant. California medical marijuana laws specifically apply to qualified medical marijuana patients. Through this investigation, detectives discovered Walker and Hunt were conducting the illegal sales and distribution of marijuana with no regard for the laws applying to medical marijuana. A fully loaded .357 revolver was found among the jars of assorted marijuana. A records check revealed the firearm was reported stolen out of Hesperia. All of the illicit marijuana, approximately 5 lbs. of bud and 15 grams of concentrated cannabis, was seized. Walker and Hunt were booked at the Central Detention Center for the felony sales of marijuana and possession of the stolen firearm. Walker was also booked for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division at (909) 890-4840.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
