Seniors Brenna McIntosh and Alexandra Torline have starred for the Coyotes since they stepped onto the court for their freshmen seasons. Both players were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association West Region volleyball honors squads and will lead the Coyotes at this week’s NCAA West Regional in Anchorage, Alaska. McIntosh, a two-time All-American, was named to the first team after being selected to the region honors squad as a freshman and junior. She is CSUSB’s all-time leader in all three blocks categories (solo, assists and total) and holds five school records. She is the nation’s career active blocks/set leader at 1.40. She is expected to return to the Coyotes’ lineup this weekend at the West Regional after sustaining a leg injury in late October. McIntosh now moves on to the national ballot. Torline is CSUSB’s all-time points leader (1,837) and ranks 4th in career kills (1,577), 3rd in career attacks (4,395) and 8th career aces (123). The Huntington Beach native is the only player in the CCAA who ranks in the top six in each of the following – kills (3rd), kills/set (6th), aces (2nd), points (2nd), total attacks (6th), points/set (2nd). Off the court, she is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District. Both players earned their fourth All-CCAA honors this season, making them just the third and fourth player in school history to earn that status. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
