San Bernardino Farmer’s Market patrons were dazzled by the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop bands last Tuesday evening, July 9.
Students from area high schools including Cajon High School, Arroyo Valley High School and Citrus Valley High School participated in the program, inspiring market-goers that night with musical renditions of songs by artists like Journey, Pat Benatar and the Beatles in the shadow of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Bowl in Perris Hill Park.
The outdoor concert by the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop is sponsored by the San Bernardino chapter of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, and provides students with this after school alternative program as an effort to give local students musical instruction and direction while they play drums, guitar or step up to the microphone and sing.
Participation in the workshop is free to local students and is part of the Rock Against Drugs Program.
While the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop students played songs from a range of well-known artists, Farmer’s Market Night patrons were able to enjoy fresh produce, food vendors and other affordable merchandise in Perris Hill Park.
On sale were funnel cakes, snacks, crafts, and kettle corn for people and families to enjoy while they cheered for San Bernardino’s young rock stars.
