San Bernardino Educators to Receive Regional Honors

Two San Bernardino education leaders will be honored by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) during its Region 12 Spring Celebration Banquet in San Bernardino next month, both hailing from the San Bernardino City Unified School District. The Office San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools announced March 10 that SBCUSD's Director of Communications Linda Bardere and Hal Boring, a retired administrator, will be joined by other county education leaders during the annual celebration slated for April 20. Bardere will be recognized as the Classified Leader of the Year and Boring will be recognized as the Retired Administrator of the year. Four representatives from the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools will also be honored: West End Special Education Local Plan Area Administrator Susan Bobbit-Voth as Special Education Administrator of the Year; Desert/Mountain Foster Youth Services Manager Paul Durham as Continuation/Ed Options Administrator of the Year; Special Assistant to the County Superintendent Chico Garza as Central Office Administrator of the Year; and Director of Human Resources Heather Williams. Additionally, three educators from Redlands Unified School District will receive honors. Kathy Jeide, principal of Lugonia Elementary School, will be named as Principal of the Year; Superintendent Lori Rhodes will be honored as Superintendent of the Year; and former Board President Pat Kohlmeier will receive the highest honor awarded by the organization, the Ferd Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award. Other county recipients include: * Don Bertucci, Chaffey Joint Union High School District, Business Services Administrator; * Angela Brantley, Rialto Unified, Valuing Diversity Award; * City of Montclair’s Online to College Program, Chaffey Joint Union, Partners in Education Excellence; * Heather Conkle, Victor Valley Union, Secondary Principal; * Matthew Fedders, Hesperia Unified, Special Education Administrator; * Karen Goss, Chino Valley Unified; Elementary Co-Administrator; * Kathy Nash, Chino Valley Unified, Middle School Principal; * Nancy Noyer, Victor Valley Union, Secondary Co-Administrator; * Grace Park, Chino Valley Unified, Personnel/Human Resources Administrator; * Kendra Smith, student at Options for Youth in Victorville, Every Student Succeeding Award; and * Ratmony Yee, Victor Valley Union, Curriculum and Instruction Administrator. San Bernardino County Superintendent Ted Alejandre will be the event's keynote speaker.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
