The upcoming General Election will hold its last voting date on November 8, 2022. For the city of San Bernardino, there are two candidates running for Mayor, one being James F. “Jim” Penman.

Here is their statement:

James F. “Jim” Penman

Attorney at Law

jimpenmanformayor.com

"For 26 years I successfully served as your elected City Attorney under 5 different mayors, I saw firsthand what worked. I have the experience to hit the ground running on day one I have been endorsed by former Mayor Judith Valles; retired Police Chief Ben Gonzalez, School Board Member Dr. Barbara Flores, and many others. I will be an independent voice for San Bernardino.

My Goals:

Homeless: Use available Federal and State grants to convert two empty buildings into transitional housing with mental health and anti-addiction services for the homeless, permitting us to legally resume enforcement of our no-camping-in-public ordinances.

Increase Law Enforcement capability: increase police force from 270 officers to over 400. Triple Code Enforcement officers and utilize retired cops. Cut back on expensive, outside consultants; reduce out-of-town manager salaries; reprioritize $44.9 million in Measure "C" funds to pay for the increased law enforcement officers.

Use available funding to improve parks and establish schedules to repave streets, repair sidewalks, upgrade streetlights and traffic signals.

Eliminate that business-killing, almost riderless, SBX bus.

Hold slum lords accountable, create new housing, and recruit businesses.

How will we reprioritize and do this? See my web page at jimpenmanformayor.com, phone (909) 882-8986, or email votejimpenman2022@gmail.com."
