SAN BERNARDINO>> San Bernardino County Fire Chief Mark Hartwig recently announced the promotion of Tim Porter from Battalion Chief to Division Chief of Administration, assigned to Department Headquarters in San Bernardino effective Oct. 3, 2016. As Division Chief of Administration, Porter will oversee support services including warehouse, vehicle services and fleet management, bid transfers, management of the hiring/testing recruitment process and special projects. “I am honored to be selected for this position and look forward to supporting the department within this new role," Porter said. "I’d like to thank our leadership for their consideration and all the dedicated individuals that I have had the privilege to work with throughout my career.” Porter has more than 25 years of fire service experience beginning in 1991 with the Victorville Fire Department. In July of 2008, he was brought over as a Captain to the San Bernardino County Fire Department after the City of Victorville transitioned to a service contract for county-provided fire protection. He was then promoted to Battalion Chief in March 2015, serving within Division 3, the High Desert Division, which includes communities of Victorville, Spring Valley Lake, Adelanto, Silver Lakes, Helendale and the Southern California Logistics Airport. “Division Chief Porter has devoted years of hard work to the High Desert and we are thankful that he has accepted a new role where he can provide increased leadership and direction to the department,” Hartwig said.
