Robert W. Kirkconnell will be discussing his book American Heart of Darkness, at the Feldheym Central Library in Kellogg Room B, at 555 W. Sixth Street in San Bernardino on Saturday April 5th at 2 p.m. A review from Readers' Favorite says “'American Heart of Darkness' unearths the dirty secrets and the true tales of the most famous and infamous events in our history. Starting with his own personal experiences with America's dark heart in Vietnam, Kirkconnell tackles some of the most important events in American history and presents them through the lens of the truth. By the time you have finished this book; neither blinkers nor rose-colored glasses will continue to be an option." Kirkconnell is a decorated combat veteran who served 27 years in the Air Force. One significant assignment was to the Presidential Airlift Wing where he received letters of appreciation from President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of State Cyrus Vance. He is a distinguished graduate (top 10%) of the Air Force Non-commissioned Officer Academy, Senior NCO Academy, and the Advanced Air Transportation Management School. He is also a graduate from the Air Force First Sergeant Academy. After military service, he taught high school locally for 14 years. He has a degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Chapman University.
