At 6:31 PM on June 2, 2019, #SBCoFD crews were dispatched to a reported vegetation fire in the area of Del Rosa Ave & East Date Street in the City of San Bernardino. When crews arrived in the area they found the fire to be much further north than the reported location & responded to the new area. ME226 made an access and found the fire to be in the area of Daley Canyon Road & Chiquita Lane, which is nestled in the foothills of Northeast San Bernardino. Due to the fire's proximity and threat to the San Bernardino National Forest, crews from the United States Forest Service were summoned to assist.

Once crews made access, they found one acre burning in light to medium fuels with a potential of more than 100 acres. The fire was burning mid-slope and away from homes. Crews engaged in a hose lay operation to suppress the fire & to keep spread to a minimum. The fire was knocked down in approximately 45 minutes, limiting the acreage to approximately 5 acres. Crews remained on scene for multiple hours working on mop up and hand line construction. The cause and origin are under investigation.

(4) Type 1 Engines, (5) Type 3 Engines, (1) Water Tender, (1) Hotshot crew, (1) Inmate Hand crew, (4) Chief Officers & (2) Fire Investigators responded to the fire. Thanks to USFS San Bernardino National Forest, CALFIRE & San Manuel FD For the assist.
