With winter less than one month away, the employees of East Valley Water District (EVWD) came together to bring warmth to hundreds of local children. EVWD employees delivered 260 winter coats to students at Jefferson Hunt Elementary School Wednesday, Nov. 18. The jackets were generously donated by employees as part of the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) Adopt-a-School program. This effort pairs SBCUSD schools with local organizations to create opportunities for student success. “There is no better feeling than seeing the faces of those boys and girls light up while they picked out their own new jacket,” said John Mura EVWD General Manager/CEO. “We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to provide warm winter coats to students in grades K-5. It’s a special moment I will never forget.” Through its partnership with Hunt Elementary and SBCUSD, EVWD’s Employee Association has been meeting the needs of children in the community through clothing and school supply drives for the past three years. The EVWD will also participate in future public service activities such as Principal for a Day and classroom presentations about water responsibility and conservation.
