Donna was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She went to be with our Lord on May 25, 2015 at Highland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mickie (Idadean) Enders and her half-brother, James Becktel. She is survived by her husband Charles Hawkins; her daughter Kimberly Hawkins; her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Bobbi Hawkins; and also her grandchildren: Matthew Hawkins, Allie Hawkins, Luke McFadden, Stefani Silver, Shaynna Silver, Robert Griffith III, Savanna Griffith, Mike & Staci Rhodes; and great-grandchildren Camdyn & Bailey Rhodes. Donna moved to California at age 5 with her mother. She grew up in Fontana, Calif., and graduated from Fontana High School, class of 1959. She had a lively career at the Fontana Water Company that spanned a time before her children were born and after the children graduated from high school. She also had worked part time at a cheese shop, a deli and a florist. Donna was active in her community with the Santa’s Workshop charity through the Fontana Women’s Club. She was awarded the Outstanding Young Woman of the Year in 1969. Donna was active in Palmetto Elementary School PTA and was a room mother many times. Donna received the PTA Honorary Association Award and a lifetime membership for her work at Palmetto Elementary PTA. Donna was a scout leader and troop organizer for Girl Scouts and active with Boy Scouts. Donna was also involved with the Fontana Rainbow for Girls and became Mother Advisor and received the Grand Cross of Color award. Donna was also an active supporter and team driver for many basketball teams over the years to support her son’s teams. Donna loved the beach and relaxing in the sun. Donna loved to travel with road trips by car. She also loved watching travel shows on TV, particularly Huell Howser and Samantha Brown. She liked to sew and quilt. She made many quilts for family and friends. Also, she donated her quilts to local police departments, Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Kaiser Permanente and Relay for Life fundraiser auctions. More recently she and her husband enjoyed spending a little time and money at the local Indian casinos. Family was always important to Donna; she enjoyed talking with and spending time with her family, extended family and many lifelong friends. Donna was still active on her high school reunion committee. She loved to dance at the reunion parties. Donna was blessed with many close friends. She often went out to lunch or dinner with ‘the girls.' Donna had a lively spirit. She was funny, caring, giving, outgoing, loyal and always loving. Services will be held on Monday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at Arlington Mortuary, Riverside, Calif.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
