Men’s Cross Country Wins Their 24th Foothill Conference Championship

The SBVC Men’s Cross Country team grabbed their 19th straight Foothill Conference Championship and 24th overall, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 1st, Douglas Palmer (Beaumont H.S.) with a time of 19:42. SBVC collected a perfect score of 15 points at this event, finishing 35 points ahead of Rio Hondo College. This year’s Foothill Conference Championship was the last one to feature Rio Hondo College as they announced they will be discontinuing their Cross Country program. The event was held at Legg Lake in El Monte, SBVC runners took the first nine spots at the finish line. The next highest finisher for SBVC was sophomore Anamacio Cardenas (Bloomington H.S.) placing 2nd with a time of 19:59 and placing 3rd was sophomore Justin Doyle (San Bernardino Cajon) with a time of 20:02. Finishing 4th was freshman Jose Escalante (Jurupa Valley H.S.) with a time of 20:09 and freshman Daniel Aguilera (Fontana Jurupa Hills) wrapped up the SBVC finishers with a time of 20:18, placing 5th. Competing, but out of the top five for SBVC was freshman Alejandro Castellonos (Romoland Heritage) who finished in 6th place and freshman Nelson Rocha (Fontana Jurupa Hills) in 7th place.
