The Assistance League of San Bernardino is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. Funds will help enhance services to local uninsured children in need of dental services and provide school clothing for children in need attending elementary school in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. The grant is part of ongoing investments the Bank of America Charitable Foundation is making to address immediate critical needs, such as hunger and shelter, and longer term solutions that promote financial wellness through access to benefits and resources. Al Arguello, Inland Empire Market president, Bank of America, noted, “Bank of America is committed to investing in programs within the communities we serve that address immediate critical needs; the Assistance League of San Bernardino is a shining example of a program within the San Bernardino community that addresses both the short-term and critical needs for children in our community.” Assistance League of San Bernardino supports the Dr. Earl R. Crane Children’s Dental Health Center and Operation School Bell with financial support and volunteers to bring vital services to children in need. The Dr. Earl R. Crane Children’s Dental Health Center provides state-of-the-art affordable dental services to children ages 5 to 18 who are uninsured or who have limited access, living in San Bernardino, Colton and Rialto. Operation School Bell provides over 200 school children with school clothing, shoes and jackets annually. Fundraising events like the organization’s Annual Signature Headdress Ball — held in April of each year — is the primary support for both programs. Mary Masasso, Dental Center co-chair, stated, “We are so pleased that Bank of America Charitable Foundation selected our organization to receive grant funding this year — we truly appreciate their trust and support.” Linda Gordon, Operation School Bell chair, echoed her comments by saying, “We know Bank of America could select any number of organizations to support and we are very grateful that they selected Assistance League of San Bernardino.” Denise McCrary-Brewster, Assistance League of San Bernardino board president, also pointed out, “Assistance League is always seeking new members with a passion for children in need and to assist with fundraising events like the Annual Signature Headdress Ball."
