Dignity Health – St. Bernardine Medical Center (SBMC) is being awarded multiple recognitions for clinical excellence by Healthgrades, a leading health care ratings company. SBMC has received the 2018 Excellence Awards for superior performance in orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, and cranial neurosurgery. In addition, SBMC is a 2018 five-star recipient for hip fracture treatment, back surgery, spinal fusion surgery, cranial neurosurgery, overall bariatric surgery, and defibrillator procedures.

Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.* These achievements are being reported by Healthgrades in their 2018 Report to the Nation. This new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally.

“These achievements wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated staff and physicians’ commitment to providing excellent patient-centered care at SBMC,” states Douglas Kleam, SBMC President. SBMC has also been recognized by many notable organizations for its compassionate and quality patient care.

“Consumers place high value on information about hospital quality and use it to evaluate their choices for care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “Hospitals that have achieved recognition for their quality outcomes prove their commitment to their patients and their community at large.”
