What do most elementary school-aged children have on their Christmas wish-list?  It’s a new bike, of course.  And for thirty (60) deserving Riverside and Moreno Valley, California elementary fourth, fifth and sixth grade students, that wish came true on Thursday, December 7 & 14 during the annual East Hills Holiday Bicycle Giveaway sponsored by Jenson USA, a leading national retailer of bicycles and accessories.

For more than a decade, two local Riverside elementary schools have been chosen to be the recipients of this generous holiday-themed program initiated by the East Hills Business Council of the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce and Jenson USA.

“Making a selection of the most worthy students to receive new bicycles is always a difficult task faced by school administrators and the teaching staffs,” commented Jenson USA founder and CEO, Michael Cachat. “This year, the selection process included a learning experience requiring students to write a short essay or draw a poster focused on the theme, ‘Every Ride Is Epic, Where Would Your Bike Take You?”  Students have no prior knowledge that they are competing for an opportunity to win a new KHS Free Agent BMX bicycle. The unveil of thirty new bikes at each school was a total surprise to the students.

During the presentation ceremonies at the school, Jackie Reseigne, Jenson USA’s customer engagement/events specialist delivered a timely talk about bicycle safety and the importance of always wearing a helmet when riding. Helmets for each bike recipient were provided by Kali Protectives. In addition to the bicycles and helmets, students were entertained to a BMX bicycle tricks demonstration by Trevor Edwards.

The annual Holiday Bike Giveaway is the result of Jenson USA’s “Kommute For Kids” campaign. “Kommute For Kids” is a Jenson USA community program designed to encourage its employees to embrace the many benefits of the cycling lifestyle while earning bicycles for the Holiday Giveaway.

What do many elementary school-aged children have on their Christmas wish-list?  It’s a new bike!  For thirty (30) Riverside elementary fifth and sixth grade students, that wish came true on December 7 and December 13 during the annual East Hills Holiday Bicycle Giveaway at Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain Elementary Schools.

For more than a decade, local Riverside elementary schools are chosen for this holiday-themed program initiated by the East Hills Business Council of the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce and Jenson USA - a leading national retailer of bicycles, bike accessories and apparel headquartered in Riverside, California.

“Selecting the students who receive the new bicycles is always a difficult task faced by school administrators and the teaching staffs,” said Jenson USA founder and CEO, Mike Cachat. “This year, the selection process included a learning activity requiring students to write a short essay or draw a poster focused on the theme, ‘Every Ride Is Epic, What Does a Bicycle Mean to You?’  Students have no prior knowledge that they are competing for an opportunity to win a new Free Agent Maverick BMX bicycle. The unveiling of thirty new bikes, fifteen at each school on separate days, is a total surprise to the students.

During the presentation ceremonies at the school, Marisa Stoltzfus, Jenson USA’s Director of People, Culture & Communications, delivered an informative talk about the history and roots of Jenson USA in the bicycle business. Ryan Pezer, Jenson USA’s Human Resources Generalist also addressed the student body regarding bicycle safety. In addition to the bicycles and helmets provide by Jenson USA, students were entertained to a BMX bicycle tricks demonstration by two of Jenson USA’s expert riders.

The annual East Hills Holiday Bike Giveaway is the result of Jenson USA’s “Kommute For Kids” campaign – a community program designed to encourage employees to embrace the many health and environmental benefits of the cycling lifestyle while earning bikes for students by riding their own bicycles during their daily commute to work. Every mile counts towards earning a bike for a deserving student.
