February 24, 2025 – Dignity Health – Community Hospital of San Bernardino (CHSB) and St. Bernardine Medical Center (SBMC) marked a significant milestone at the 30th annual Community Grant Awards Luncheon, celebrating three decades of improving health and well-being in the Inland Empire. The event, held at St. Bernardine Medical Center, highlighted the ongoing commitment of both hospitals to meeting the health needs of the region.

“A core element of our mission is giving back, and we take pride in sustaining our support for organizations that go the extra mile to address the diverse needs of our community,” said June Collison, CHSB President. “These collaborations empower us to take on the intricate health and human challenges faced by our San Bernardino community.”

This year, a total of $390,000 in grants was awarded to eight outstanding local organizations: Catholic Charities, CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation, Inland Harvest, Rescue a Generation, San Bernardino Fatherhood, Step Up, Building a Generation, and Family Assistance Program. These organizations were selected for their impactful work in tackling critical issues such as food insecurity, youth support, behavioral health, homelessness, human trafficking, and fatherhood programs. Additionally, the recipients received certificates of recognition from San Bernardino City Councilman, Mario Flores, who was also in attendance at the event.

“Through our investments in these organizations, we aim to cultivate a sense of inclusion and comprehensiveness,” said Doug Kleam, SBMC President. “Our objective is to provide the community with the necessary resources and support essential for leading healthy, prosperous lives, while also minimizing the likelihood of significant future health interventions.”

The grants are awarded through Dignity Health’s Community Health Improvement Grants program, which helps non-profit organizations that work to build healthier communities by improving health and living conditions. Since the grant program began, CHSB and SBMC have awarded over $100 million to nonprofit agencies that are transforming lives throughout the Inland Empire.

CHSB and SBMC extend their heartfelt congratulations to this year’s grant recipients and look forward to continuing their partnership with these organizations to advance health and wellness in the community for the next 30 years and beyond.
