San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Ronchetti to the position of Fire Marshal overseeing the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Fire Marshal Ronchetti is responsible for the Community Safety and Fire Prevention, Hazardous Materials Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPA), and Household Hazardous Waste sections within County Fire, serving several contract cities and districts, and the unincorporated areas of the county. She leads a diverse office that provides oversight and implementation of all regulatory inspection and planning programs, management over the CUPA, provides emergency response to Hazmat-related incidents, public education, and special events, and conducts fire/arson investigations and damage assessment.

“I am excited for this opportunity to serve as Fire Marshal for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District. It is truly an honor to follow in Chief Mike Horton’s footsteps and to build upon the great work he has done over the years,” stated Fire Marshal Monica Ronchetti. “It is a critical role, and I am ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring the safety and protection of the residents, businesses, and the environment from fire and other hazards in San Bernardino County.”

Monica began her career with San Bernardino County Fire in 2009 as a Hazardous Materials Specialist Trainee and worked her way up to a Supervising Hazardous Materials Specialist in the Household Hazardous Waste section in 2015. In 2018, she was promoted to Deputy Fire Marshal managing the Hazardous Materials and Household Hazardous Waste sections. Most recently, Monica served as the interim Fire Marshal.

Monica is a 2023 graduate from National University with a master’s in Public Administration. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Cal State San Bernardino with a minor in Geography, and an associate degree in Biology from Riverside Community College. Monica has completed all three levels of the County’s Management Leadership Academy. She is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist and holds several California State Fire Marshal certifications.

Monica and her husband Tim of 29 years have two sons and three dogs. Monica values spending quality time with her family and enjoys off-roading in their jeep, remote camping, and mountain biking.
