The West Valley Water District (WVWD) Board of Directors announced the winners of the annual poster contest during its December 1st board meeting.

The theme of this year’s contest was “Water Savings Starts with You”, a call to action for young water conservation leaders to illustrate and educate others on how saving water is a shared responsibility.

“The annual poster contest provides our young water leaders the opportunity to learn and encourage others how to save water the right way,” said WVWD Board President Channing Hawkins. “On behalf of the board, I would like to congratulate all our winning students and thank all the students who participated in this year’s contest.”

Participating students submitted hand-drawn posters to raise awareness for water conservation. WVWD staff voted and judged the posters on their interpretation of the theme, originality, and neatness.

“We are grateful for this educational program that engages local students to embrace water conservation practices,” said WVWD Acting General Manager Van Jew. “We look forward to sharing the winning submissions with the community in the 2023 water conservation calendar.”

2022 Poster Contest Winners:

Elijah G., Fitzgerald; Daniela P., Smith Tech; Isaac E., Grimes; Valeria M., Grimes; Alicia N., Kordyak; David W., Trapp; Christopher L, Fitzgerald; Demire P., Trapp; Karin Nava, Grimes; Juliann G., Grimes; Grace V., Sycamore Hills; Luz R., Grimes

Students who submitted winning posters were also recognized with certificates by local elected officials, including Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gomez Reyes, Assemblymember James Ramos, and Supervisor Joe Baca Jr.
