As the founder of Atlas Buying Group, Inc. and a small business owner for nearly 20 years, I have helped hundreds of families and entrepreneurs start, run and expand their businesses. I have shown them how to increase efficiency and effectiveness, withstand an historic recession, and create thousands of jobs both here at home and across the country. In 2012, I was humbled by the support that I received from our residents when I ran, and was elected, to the Rancho Cucamonga City Council, receiving the most votes in an at-large election that included two existing councilmembers. As a councilman, I have taken my experience in the private sector and applied it to all levels of local governance, especially the policies that affect our ability to expand the local economy. In the last two years on the council, we have created opportunities for residents to participate as well as shape the future of their community. We have reformed regulations for job creation, enhanced efficiency and departmental communication, and laid the foundation for future investment and a full economic recovery in the Inland Empire. We are listening to our residents, solving problems together, and working toward a stronger and safer future. Unfortunately, this is not the case on the State level. As the eighth largest economy in the world, our unemployment rate continues to hover above the federal average. We have some of the highest taxes in the nation, but our public education system remains at the bottom of national standards. We spend, tax, and wait for the next economic boom to appear; meanwhile our largest employers are taking thousands of jobs to neighboring states. Our region needs a leader who will stand up to the political games in Sacramento and ensure that our local officials, residents, and families have the ability to determine their own futures, the success of our local school system, and the number of jobs we create. As a husband, father, small business owner, and committed community member, I am confident that I can provide that leadership in the Assembly.
